About Germino, Amaral & Jordan
Professional Law Corporation

The experienced attorneys of Germino, Amaral & Jordan are well versed in both criminal and civil law. Whether your legal needs stem from criminal defense or any of a myriad of civil needs, our lawyers may be able to help.

Criminal law can be very roughly defined as codified crimes that endanger the safety and welfare of the public. Criminal laws are usually enforced by the police and include violent offenses that one might be put in jail for such as burglary, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, assault, domestic violence, robbery, and even murder.

Civil law (also known as tort law) is usually more oriented toward property, contracts, and monetary or other disputes between parties. The emphasis in civil litigation generally leans more toward dispute resolution than in 'punishment and reform'. Civil disputes generally do not, (except in fairly rare cases - like civil contempt of court), involve incarceration.
